louis armstrong stationery
The objective was to create branding for a historic figure that included a logo, letterhead, envelope, business card, and an extra object. I chose Louis Armstrong, so I incorporated New Orleans Mardi Gras and jazz music themes within my designs. The selection of the logo and the use of an alligator icon are inspired by the area the company is located in. This stationery is made for a music company named “Armstrong” which is located on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The stripe and flag shapes and patterns used throughout the stationery are used to represent music. Whether it’s stripes in a sheet of music, piano keys, or even guitar strings, stripes are a common element that is seen throughout the music world. Repetition of these stripes relates to repetition that is seen within music. Using Mardi Gras colors (greens, purples, and yellows) within the composition serves a purpose and adds more emphasis on location.
